YOUR LEARNING JOURNEY

  • ARRANGE SPONSORSHIP: Choose a studio where you feel positively supported and can take weekly lessons and/or classes with a comprehensively trained Pilates teacher who will become your sponsor. Make arrangements for a time/place for self practice and practice teaching with friends and family volunteers.

  • MEET DILLA AND SUEANN: Attend our LIVE Kick-off meeting on Zoom so that we can get to know you and walk you step-by-step through the program.

  • STUDY AT YOUR OWN PACE: Login to the online classroom to watch lectures and tutorials. Each video provides thorough explanation and clear demonstration for each exercise with the same level of detail as you would experience in live seminars. Here you can also watch the Anatomy-in-Motion videos, download handouts, complete assignments and take short quizzes to test your knowledge.

  • ONGOING SUPPORT LEADING TO TEST OUT: Schedule up to four one-to-one check-ins per module with Sueann or Dilla to ask questions, to problem solve for particular clients, or to clarify any material in the lectures. Complete final testing by arranging to take a written as well as the practical portion by submitting a video or arranging for an in-person evaluation of your teaching.

  • Becomes a “home” studio to practice the exercises on the mat or equipment that align with the module you are studying

  • Provides studio space to observe and bring in volunteers to fulfill your personal and practice teaching hours with non-paying volunteers

  • helps hold you accountable and encourages consistency so that you meet your goals and finish successfully

  • Do you have a full year to complete Module 1?

Yes. This is a self-paced program that you can complete within six months to a year depending on your personal schedule.

  • How many hours is it expected to take to get through Module 1? And how many for Module 2?

There may be some variability but Module 1 will take between 6 months - 1 year to complete and Module 2 between 4-6 months. Both modules combined will be a minimum of 450 hours and will cover all of the exercises, anatomy in motion series, and teaching skills.

  • What will the test out process look like? Is that something that will be done over Zoom or with our sponsor/mentor?

The test out process will be done through Harmony with Sueann or Dilla in person if you live in the Pittsburgh area or via Zoom if you are out of state. There is a written and practical test for both Modules. The written is a multiple choice template asking questions regarding the exercises, modifications, spotting/ cueing and anatomy. The practical consists of you teaching a volunteer client a lesson. Don't worry. You will be fully prepared by the time you arrive to test out! The cost for testing out is $275 per module.

  • Do I need to purchase liability insurance before I begin practice teaching in the studio?
